Outdoor Learning is not another subject. It is a way of approaching the way we teach -- covering the same learning objectives but outdoors, providing more stimulus and opportunity for consolidating and extending learning and understanding. Schools have started to take lessons outside in order to take advantage of the wonderful benefits in student health and well-being; to increase student motivation and inspiration; to connect learning to real life examples; and to increase a children's awareness of their environment. This has started to become known as Outdoor Learning in schools. Almost all learning objectives can be taught outside, not all of course, but subjects and topics that can utilise the outdoors to great effects and allow a higher degree of thinking skills and experiential learning. |
